Noe Finally Surfing Again
The whole family went out Sunday morning to surf. Marlon was way outside waiting for the bigger waves to come in. He did come in a few times to show off his "Deadman" stance.
La took the Starboard Element out and caught a bunch.
I watched the kids that stayed in close so our friend Amy could catch some of her own waves.
And Noe was able to go out and catch four stand up waves on the Catch Surf Odyssey!!!! I had to bribe her to go out and catch those waves, but it was worth it to hear her say she was having fun in the water here in Hawaii (earlier she told me she liked surfing better in Florida because it was easier).

Lots of Stuff Happening
We've been pretty busy with our transition. I accepted an offer from a small company in Honolulu and will start in early January - unfortunately, the family will not be coming for maybe a year. Despite that fact, we are all excited about the direction we now have and have been busy lining up all that needs to happen. I drove the minivan and ALL our boards up to Seattle - made the almost 4000 mile trip in just over 4 days. I think my real calling was to be a semi-truck driver...

I finished up building a replacement 6 weight rod (for the one that got stolen). I think it came out perfect!!! The funny thing is I built it in the small confines of our travel trailer.

We said our goodbyes to the beach at Mayport, Florida - it's been awesome collecting shells, surfing waves, catching fish and sharks, and just listening to the waves crash on the shore. Thanks for the memories!

And just today, we were able to sell our beloved TrailManor Travel Trailer. We were fortunate to have spent a large part of our transition from Naval Service in our small house - THANK YOU Mayport RV Parks for accommodating us (we couldn't have done it without you). We had TONS of adventures and have learned so much from our time in the camper - lessons we will never forget. Driving and backing a trailer. How to truly live simply. Getting what food you need and not wasting. How to weather the storms. Loving your family. Appreciating life more and things less. Thank you TM 2720QB for being our shelter - we will miss you and we hope your new family has as much fun with you as we did!

Fishing Report 10/19/2014
I took the kids fishing at the beach right by the jetty yesterday afternoon. We dropped La off at the beach by the 'poles' so she could go shelling and get a good walk in as she made her way to where we were fishing. We all found scallop shells so she was really happy (which gave us plenty of time to go fishing).
We weren't having luck in the surf trying to catch the really small whiting, so we shifted to the rocks to catch the usual suspects. Rock Blennies and Spot Tail Pinfish - skunk repellant.

We went back to fishing from the beach and the kids stumbled on to another life lesson. They found a gull with a broken wing. Upon closer inspection, the gull was bleeding from a wound on it's wing. The blood was bright red so it was a deep cut. They asked what would happen to the gull - I told them when birds that rely on flight break a wing, they usually die of starvation. With this bird, it will probably die a quicker death because it will bleed out. I explained that this is part of life and that they should be happy that the bird got to grow to whatever age it was, fly through the skies and enjoy good weather. They should also apply that lesson to their own lives and truly appreciate the time we have in this existence.
