Bye Bye to Noe's Laser

Somewhat a sad day yesterday - we brought Noe's Laser over to her new owners.

Good news is the new owners are really nice people and they'll take good care of the boat.

And when she gets back from college, the new owners said Noe can use it anytime she wants!

Noe Sailing - 2/10/2023

And while I was winging at Hickam Harbor, Noe was sailing over at Kaneohe Bay.

Tearing it up!!!

No - she is not puking her guts out here - she is jibing the boat in heavy winds.  But it does look like she is heeled over and puking her guts out.  Just saying...

Go Noe!!!

Noe Kicking Ass and Taking Names!!!

Noe and La have been at Holland, Michigan for the week so Noe could sail in a regatta with her team mates from KYC.  This is the Sears Cup.

Well - THEY CAME IN FIRST PLACE in this national championship!!!

What an awesome experience for them!!!

Noe Go Faster

Noe asked me to help her fix her Laser hull.  She is pretty nit-noid (like me) and wanted some chips filled, scratches addressed and the bottom treated (so she can go faster).

Pick off the bad spots - no sense filling in over something that isn't structurally sound.  We taped up the areas she wanted fixed.  I had her mix up the epoxy and make the milled fibers slurry.

Noe had to sail today (practicing for some events coming up), so I went ahead and sanded down all the repaired spots - same regime as with boards - 40-80-120-180-220-320-400-600.

And I polished the bottom.  She came home and gave a thumbs up.

Should be good for another season!

Noe Checking Out Some I-14s

In between concert rehearsal and the actual concert, Noe headed over to her yacht club and got some first-hand exposure to the International 14 boat.  She really likes hanging out on the trapeze!

This show and tell was being put on in advance of a race later in the day.

There was a couple of containers in the front parking lot - so some of these boats probably came from the Mainland.

I really like the idea on this boat - super technical and you can adjust everything.  But wing foiling is way more dynamic and so easy to transport (and you can launch anywhere).

Celebrating La's Birthday

We celebrated La's birthday early this year.  She really wanted all of us to go sailing as a family at the same time/place.  Here all rigged up Lasers and hit Pearl Harbor!!!

There actually was some decent wind.

The wind was really shifty - on, off, East, North, North-East....  This is La.

Noe getting hiked out.

And Marlon getting a good run in.

Good times on the water!!!!  After that, we headed to the Cheesecake Factory for linner.  We got so stuffed!!!

We're glad you had a great time today La!!!!

Noe Sailing in Nukin Winds

Noe is on spring break - and today she brought her boat out to Hickam to sail in a regatta.

I tried to make it out there before she was done - I just barely missed her.  It looked like she was having fun.  When I pulled up, there were four Lasers all capsized in whitecapped water.

Fun day for sailing!

Noe Charging

And this is Noe and one of her sailing partners ripping on a 420!

This is pretty darn cool!  Not as cool as wing foiling - but pretty darn close.

Same Wind - Different Spots

La brought Noe to sailing lessons today - pretty much the same time I was out at Hickam.  La was kind enough to take pictures of both of us!!!  Here's Noe on a 420 -

And here I am flying high on the HS1850

Super fun!!!

Wing Foiling Session 1/31/2021

We towed Noe's Laser over to Hickam where she and I battled for supremacy of the oceans.  The first two runs I was off foil and got destroyed.  But on the last two runs, I picked up a gust and smoked Noe.  So it was a draw.

Ensis 6.0, HS1850, Uni 300, +1 trim fairing - good setup for today.

From the report, the wind looks like it was perfect.  On the water, there were some sizeable holes and schlogging was necessary.  I got in 6.97 nms and got to 14.5 mph on the powered runs.

La was out too on a Quest - fun session!!!

La and Noe Sailing

After we finished grinding and painting the trailer, we headed to Pearl Harbor to go sailing (Noe and La did with La's sister Leona - they dropped me off at Hickam Harbor to go winging, thats next post).

Noe hiking out on the trapeze on the 420.

Looks like they had a lot of fun!
