Fishing Report 6/8/2014, Part 3

More random pictures from today's lake adventure: One of the snakes Marlon saw - A dragonfly nymph casing. This was not a small guy... I'd hate to have to live in the lake and be prey for this guy... As we were walking back, I saw a few bass swimming near the rocks and asked Marlon "do you think I could catch one from up here?". He said 'nope' so it was game on... I got one to take and walked back down the dam to let it go. If you didn't know, my superhero power is to be able to get fish to take my flies. This is different than Aquaman's power of telepathy with marine animals (and according to Dr Koothrappali from Big Bang Theory, "Aquaman sucks!!!!") Life is good...

Wildlife Studied Today

Besides these nice Sunnies and several of their friends, I did bring a Small Mouth to hand (flopped away while I was trying to get the picture), several minnows were caught, crayfish a plenty, an aquatic stick bug, the one-eyed turtle, and this snake trying to cool off under a rock (underwater). Again, this park is a wonderful place to spend the day!

Bass Ambush and a Swimming Snake

Catching up with some delinquent posts. The kids asked me to take them fishing after school on Tuesday. Marlon caught a few bluegill - but the ones from our normal spot seemed to have some really bad infection on their eyes - bulging and distended. We moved around a bit but the late time of day had the kids wanting to go back to the house. I stayed a little bit longer and I walked to a spot where I could hide behind some tall grass and cast to the medium sized large mouths that have taken up residence on the bank. I landed this guy and out of the corner of my eye I saw the other resident - this snake swimming towards me. Time for me to go home.
