Not so new occupant

Yellow Tang (Zebrasoma flavescens)

Smaller individual - was a little spooky when first introduced (about 10 days ago), but has since gotten a heck of a lot braver (even postures against the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a).

Nice fish!

There's a Foxface Rabbitfish in the background of one of the pictures too - got it at the same time (both from a local fish shop) - this is spooky still - more pictures when there is less spookiness

Sucker Puffer

We went to Biloxi for the day to run errands and the Fish Shop in Keesler had to be stopped in.

We had been talking to the shop guy for sometime now about getting a small porcupine puffer, but everytime we've stopped by, they didn;t have any. Well this time they did.

We weren't planning to get another one (we got one when the last batch of fish came in - the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a, the three stripe damsels and a medium sized puffer), but since our current one was being ultra shy and not eating, and since the kids were cooing over it soooooo much, what's another $29.99????

Well, this one is eating like a pig and has even managed to draw out the first one (albeit still reclusive).

We ate lunch at one of the seafood joints along 90 on the beach - been there done that and won't be going back (I could have cooked that food with both my hands tied behind my back - not impressive at all).

Another good fishy day!

New Fish

I ordered these guys yesterday and the FEDEX dude had them here today!!!

The kids were stoked to have:

A Humuhumunukunukuapuaa, a Porcupine Puffer and four new Three Stripe Damsels

While acclimating, the puffer looked like it was going to be the overly aggressive tankmate, taking nips at everyone in the 5 gallon bucket. But it was the triggerfish that quickly came out Alfa -

All the fish seem to have gotten settled -

More to follow!

Waiting for the dust to settle

Getting closer...

We actually went to the fish store (near Biloxi) and they had just sold their last porcupine puffer. That made the decision to wait a little easier.

I'll post more later today - the tank has actually cleared up alot.

2000 miles, a few less rocks, a new SCWD and we're back in business!

Big Tank Getting Closer

I'll finish the plumbing soon.

The kids have been asking repeatedly for a small porcupine puffer. We went to the second aquarium shop that we've found here in the area yesterday. Decent setup (certainly superior to the one closest to our house) and they get their shipments every Thursday.

With the live rock curing in the backyard for several weeks now, we may have fish swimming by next weekend!

Marlon also asked for the walk space that is in the picture - that'll be the side the kids are responsible for cleaning.

Stay tuned!
