Evening Session - 9/7/2025

And to wash off the Garage Works (foam dust), I went back for a surf session this evening.

Surf was STACKED!!!  Overhead on the set waves and the consistency was really good.

I opted to take the J Splee Surfboards Hammah Fish.

I caught three incredible waves - head to just overhead waves that had tremendous push and didn't closeout!

Today is probably one of the best riding days I've had a in a long time!

If the swell holds into tomorrow, I may use the Firewire Revo Max -

Dawn Patrol - 8/20/2024

There is a swell hitting right now - and the wind is down - so that means surfing!

I thought the Hammah Fish would be the best call -

Considering the factors, it was awesome!  I only had time (and the crowd would allow) for me to catch three.  My last one was pretty epic!!!

If I brought the Seaside and Beyond, I'm figuring I would have doubled my wave count, but sometimes that is not what it is about.

To surf well, you need to surf often.  With all the winging I've been doing, my surfing has declined.  This is the fourth time I been out in a short window and it is only now that I feel I'm getting back into the groove.

Too bad the wind is coming back up!!!

Evening Session - 7/29/2024

Small surf this evening.  I came out late - Duke was standing on the beach.

He said he hit a tiger with his foil - he was kinda freaked out (I know I was when I hit that big hammerhead outside Firsts).

I said I was only going out to catch a few -

But it was really hard to ride any of the handful of waves I caught because I accidently brought the Hammah Fish (I thought I grabbed the Boogie Fish).

I did get up a few times, so I guess I'm counting this session -

If I had a longboard, I think things would have been different.

Dawn Patrol - 5/25/2024

I had planned on going to Kailua to wing this morning - but I checked the report before heading out and the wind was light.  I figured I'd have a better time going to WPB to surf (since it was low tide and I didn't want to risk grounding a foil - and I didn't charge my Foil Drive battery).

There were some waves, but the crowd was also pretty stacked.

I brought the Hammah Fish thinking the waves were going to be a hair bigger (based on the past couple of winging sessions).  They were good sized on the sets but the longboarders were all over them.  I caught several, and even had a couple of good ones - but I kept thinking the Boogie Fish or the Sweet Potato would have been a better selection for riding the waves on the inside.

This board is perfect for the chest to head and a half high waves.  Today was more like belly to head.  Definitely should have used the Boogie Fish...

Dawn Patrol - 5/19/2024

I didn't have much hope for a Foil Drive session this morning - and Dennis got on a text string early this morning to confirm WPB was big and unruly again.  Plus it was a pretty low tide... I figured I'd cut my losses and get in some surfing.

It was big and unruly - but with the Hammah Fish and some patience, I was able to thread the needle on several waves!

In fact, every wave I caught and rode was really fun.  Top turns, bottom turns, outrunning a pitch lip - this board makes me look good!  I caught a few that were just overhead and a few more that were chest high - lower wave count on shortboards (I'm spoiled by the Foil Drive).

I hate to admit it, but I really like these fins.  I never felt like they were losing grip in any of the boards and situations I had them in.  The Great White Twin, the Sweet Potato, and I think the Boogie Fish - all worked well with these Endorfin Twins.

It's days like this that make me realize how lucky I am to live where I do -

Evening Session - 5/15/2024

Not quite an anointment (as I got this board second hand) - but this 5'6" Hammah Fish from J.Splee Surfboards is killer!!!

As you can see I have the Endorfin Twins inserted - these worked really well today (and made the rides incredibly fun).

There is a pretty substantial 'V' running in the back half of the board - and that made this board want to rotate rail to rail.  The rails are really pinched hard, so the board holds in steeper faces -

This thing goes hard where fish are not supposed to...

I'm guessing this board has around 42 liters of volume - it was so easy to paddle into waves.  But it is amazing how all the volume is packed into such a manageable frame.  I actually didn't like the Greedy Beaver I had because of this issue - the size I got was just too big and corky for me to get into waves and turn - the Hammah Fish is obviously smaller, but it also just works better.

Marlon brought out his longboard and he was catching some really good rides despite the onshore winds.

I caught 4 and had to pay with 3 missed ones.  The rides I did catch were pretty long, the waves were steep and I got to get some great turns in.  My first wave was amazing - it's interactions like this that let you know you have a great board.

I am looking forward to a great summer with this board!!!
