Evening Session - 10/26/2023

Marlon and I got a session in yesterday evening to catch the peak of the current swell.  Epic conditions for the South Shore!!!

We brought the same boards and fins as the day before.

There were a lot of people in the water and they were mostly really proficient surfers (not Bobs).

We both managed to catch our share.

I felt like I was turning the Pigfish the best that I have ever to date.

I love surfing when the waves are good!

Evening Session - 10/18/2023

Late afternoon session with Marlon yesterday.  There was some wind blowing around - so the waves weren't as clean as Tuesday.  The waves were bigger than Tuesday - but not as well formed.

Marlon and I both caught some fun ones.

I absolutely love the Pigfish!

Evening Session - 10/17/2023

I got home from work a little bit later than normal.  When I got home, I grabbed Marlon and we headed out to the beach.  He brought his Seaside and I brought the Pigfish.

The last time I used this board, I had in the Hess Noriega Keel and the Machado Quads - I figured that would be a good starting point.

The waves were around head high on the sets and with no wind - and they were staying open for the most part.  I caught several and rode for long periods, pulling turns galore and trying to get covered up.

Roland deliberately dropped in on me once - saying he was "sharing" the wave.

The Pigfish performed flawlessly!!!!

Evening Session - 10/11/2023

I was wasted (super tired, not drunk) after I got home from work so I took a nap.  I got up after an hour and felt compelled to go surf.  Supposedly there was an increase in the wave energy - gotta get it before the south swells go dormant.

And I wanted to get more waves in with the Boogie Fish.

I got several fun ones - but almost every other wave had military people dropping in - "I love this place because everybody shares waves" - wrong - you just keep dropping in.

I still had a good time getting to know this board better.

Evening Session - 10/10/2023

Got in an evening session after work - sometimes just swimming around in the ocean after a long day at work is good to wash off the work day.

The tide was dropping and the waves were about waist high.  The wind was up and down, and it did have more North in it.  There was a winger out in front of Campgrounds - they looked to be powered up and on foil.

I brought out the Boogie Fish!  I placed the True Ames Hess Noriega keels.

This board is different than the other boards I've been using lately.  The end result is this board is really skatey (compared the more drivey feel I get from the Sweet Potato).  This is especially noticable when completing a top turn and redirecting - slides a bit more at the end of the turn.  This is likely due to the bottom deck elements  - some spiral V and concaves that have an edge on the rail side of the feature.

I think the best way to describe this is "fun"

It did seem like it wanted more energy to open up and run.  The waves today did not have that much energy behind them, and it was good to find the low end of this board's range.  Going forward through the week, the waves are supposed to pick up. What a convenient excuse to keep using this board!

Evening Session - 10/6/2023

Got home from work and did some errands in the yard.  After that, what better way to start the weekend than getting in a surf session!

Marlon brought out his longboard and headed off to Middles.

I brought the Volcanic Sweet Potato - and I ripped!!!

I finally got to put in the Hess Noriega Keels from True Ames.

Obviously these keels have more release than the Mackie's I've been using in the Helium Sweet Potato.  Different feel but just as fun!!!

I caught plenty of waves - actually pretty ridiculous considering the size of this board.  The best one was belly high and I got in some roundhouse top turns and rebounding projected bottom turns.

I think my surfing has actually gotten better because of the Sweet Potato rides.

I never thought I'd still be shredding on a shortboard in my 50s - but here I am shredding daily!!!!  I love this shit!!!!!
