Snorkeling Hanauma Bay for Marlon's Birthday

Yup - Marlon wanted to go snorkeling Hanauma Bay for his Birthday (I still wonder whether Noe influenced him on this decision somehow...). For most of the trip, La was the camera operator - Lots of fun and tons of fish that made us hungry!!!

Kaneohe Bay Sandbar Field Trip

On Sunday we took a pontoon boat out to the Kaneohe Bay Sandbar with the Yamodis family. Tons of fun and everyone got lots of water time. Oh - and I got a skunk even fishing with bait... but I still had fun ;)

New Year's Snorkeling

We waited out the wind at the beach near the runway at Kaneohe. After an hour or so, we were able to get in the water and check out the fringe reefs.

Christmas Eve and Noe's Birthday Celebration Snorkel

Christmas Eve to us is Christmas Eve, but it is also Noe's Birthday!!! This year, Noe wanted to explore Haunama Bay, but the wind was up so I suggested Shark's Cove up on the North Shore. Noe approved and off we went! Very clear water and a rising tide made for great snorkeling conditions. We got to try out our big "tako box" - La's new favorite tool! We saw three different types of sea urchin - vana (hurts if you get hit), rock borer (ina - not usually associated with hits) and the pin cushion (tons of sucker feet). And we saw tons of fish (and they know they are protected in this little tide pool - they aren't scared of humans). Humuhumunukunukuapua'a, hinalea, manini, sergeant majors, gobies, a trumpetfish, tobies, and a bunch of other stuff. Noe (and Marlon and La and I) had a great time!!! We'll be back!

I brought La and the kids out to Hickam Flats to go fishing, shelling, observing and snorkeling. Mission accomplished!!!
