Garage Works - 2/5/2025

I got the fill coat of the top deck today.

This part of the build process just takes time.  I don't like to sand a coat unless 24 hours has passed - makes it much easier to sand and get good results.

And for this board, after I get this base fill coat sanded, I'll place the logos and do a last fill coat with the ProLink epoxy.

I think this one will have more of the 'distressed carbon' look after sanding.

And to fill more of the lap gap and other low spots, I placed the drip tape further back.  As I am writing this, I've already pulled the tape and gotten the board settled in the garage for the night.

Tomorrow I'll get the board sanded, washed, the logos placed and maybe get the first Prolink coat on.

That will leave Friday for the Prolink coat on the opposite deck.

Saturday should see the tracks opened, and final sanding.

Garage Works - 2/4/2025

Yesterday afternoon I got the fill coat on the bottom deck on.

First up was sanding the lap and getting an edge taped up.

Pigment (for me) tends to run a little more than straight epoxy - so I set up the plastic drop cloth (to keep my garage floor from having multi-colored effects.

And after an hour or so of applying and tending the fill coat, the bottom deck was done.

Lots of drips - more so than normal for me.  Might be the cooler temperatures with the slow hardener.

Garage Works - 12/2/2024

And in between cooking dinner, hanging Christmas lights and consolidating laundry, I managed to get the fill coat on the top deck of No.39

First step was sanding down all the gross high points.  I went ahead and scarified the top deck surface to give the fill coat a surface to develop a mechanical bond.

And here it is with about 20 ounces of pigmented epoxy placed as the top deck fill coat

And I sanded the ding on Roland's board.  When I mix up another clear batch of epoxy, I'll use some to fill this ding.

Garage Works - 12/1/2024

Between helping around the house and eating a pizza, I got some time in the garage.

I sanded the laps and applied pigmented epoxy to level everything off.

Three coats later, here's the botton deck all laminated.
