Navy Lodge

For those of you that don't know (myself included until I noticed the plaque), the Navy Lodge facility on Construction Battalion Center Gulfport is named after Robert Stethem. I am proud that I spent a majority of my career in the Navy working with the current iteration of Underwater Construction Technicians, and that all of them were selflessly upholding the principles that Bobby did every day his life. If you're in the area, take a moment and look for the plaque and remember "freedom isn't free".

Old Skipper

We had an opportunity to enjoy dinner with Roger and Michele - owners of the Farrier 27 Trimaran that I used to crew on. We were trying to get a sail in - especially since he got some new sails, but as you saw in the previous post, the air was light. I learned a lot about jib and reacher sail management from this guy. I look forward to the next time we meet Roger! I'll have to fly back for one of the long races!

Another Cool Place to Eat

La Cafe Beignet in Biloxi. The Ironman Sandwich was incredible!!! Crusty bread, tasty gouda, and a savory sausage/egg souffle (I think that's what it was). Places like this - restaurants that are not chains, that have some of the best food we've eaten - really make us miss the Gulfport-Biloxi area. Stop in a try some beignets!!!

One of My Favorite Places to Eat

We just spent a couple of days in Gulfport, Mississippi. When in Gulfport, you have to eat at the Half Shell on 49. You just do - Just as good as I remember it...
