Lunch Up North

This is another activity that will never get old - eating at Kua Aina -

I love this food!!!  Mission accomplished!

North Shore Chicken Hunting

We packed up the truck and went out to grab a couple of pieces of lumber - then made a trip out to Haleiwa to grab a Kua Aina Burger (drooling)!  To pass a few minutes in hope of letting any lunch hour lines die down, we checked out the Patagonia shop.  Without fail, there were chicken families in several stages of development.  My kids went into "hunt" mode..

Ever since our trip to Kauai, my kids love to catch recently hatched chicks, study them, and release them to continue hunting bugs.  I love to hear the hen scream bloody murder - I realize the hen may not think the same of the situation as I do, but this never gets old for me or the kids.  I'm sure it gets old for the birds.

No animals were physically harmed in the making of this blog post.  In fact, the chicks we picked up got belly rubs and hugs.

Big Surf on Saturday January 13th, 2018

I took the kids up to see the big surf breaking on the North Shore this past Saturday.  I opted to take them over to Mokuleia Beach Park (google maps showed Kamehameha Highway pretty much at a standstill above Haleiwa).

And since we were up there, we hit the best burger shop in the universe - Kua Aina.

Earlier in the day we woke up to an emergency broadcast message on our phones saying there was an inbound ballistic missile, that we should take cover and the message wasn't a drill.  Nothing a Kua Aina burger can't fix!!!

Saturday North Shore Pictures

I downloaded the pictures from my phone a hair behind the GoPro, so this is slightly out of chronological order (in case your OCD is as bad as mine). We made a run up through a new to us road (Kunia Rd) to get some errands done - with the goal of snorkeling Sharks Cove again. Unfortunately the swell was big enough to break over the rocks that normally protect this spot and the overflow was flushing through the pools with a strong current - no snorkeling this day. So we went back into Haleiwa town and hit the spots that are normally closed when we regularly come through after a day of playing in the water. We tried Matsumoto's - Then we browsed through the galleries and surfshops. And to finish off the day, we enjoyed Kua Aina sandwiches!!! I can never get tired of these things!!!

Cruising Haleiwa on Noe's Birthday

After snorkeling, we hung out in Haleiwa - I'll let the few pictures show the story.
