SUP Surfing the Latest South Swell

Marlon and I did a dawn patrol yesterday.  It was pretty windy and choppy - I brought out the ULI Lopez (but while I was out there I was thinking I should have brought out the Greedy Beaver).

I caught some good ones, but I also tripped up way more than I normally do.  It's harder to make the drop when you are getting blown back up the face, and the chop is bucking you off the board.

Still a good time - Marlon was way over on the Oneula side of the breaks so I didn't get to checkout his rides.

I ended up pulling a muscle near my left shoulder blade.  I'm sidelined for a few days...

Marlon and I Hit the Dawn Patrol

Marlon and I hit it on Saturday morning - kinda small, but still fun! Really cool to live really close to the surf break you like to surf!!! Some pictures from the wave's POV Super fun way to work off the belly fat ;)

Family Surf Day at Flat Island

We packed up the van and headed over to Flat Island. The wind was offshore and light (at the beginning of the session). La paddled out on the Starboard Element, Marlon on the Wavestorm and me on the ULI Lopez Special Edition (Noe stayed back on the beach with Camille, Henry and Charlie). Small day but totally fun - especially with La out there talking smack and getting to see Marlon take on a new break!!! I'll let the pictures do the talking. What a perfect day!!!

Aloha Friday SUPing at Puena Point

Choppy conditions made for difficult SUP Surfing, but still had a good time. Charlie saying "No Thanks" - the section closes out right after this. Dropping in The inside section was better for SUP surfing.

Small Day SUP Surfing

An old friend Nick came to town and Charlie and I took him SUP surfing up at Puena Point. It has been well over 15 years since I've surfed this spot. It seemed pretty crowded, but when you are faced with gridlock traffic or surfing smaller waves, I guess more folks are choosing the latter and Puena and Haleiwa are getting more crowded. Still had good fun! I caught one awesome wave (forgot to turn the camera on before paddling for it so no pics) and the rest were smaller ones. I think I'm going to bring the family up and get them to try this place.

Cool Cut Outs

After the beating, I paddled in and hung out waiting for the others to get back. I saw these cutouts in the hills made by years of surf erosion. If I didn't eat it on the reef, I would have never seen these formations. Pretty cool!
