Mitch's Sushi on Our 20th!

Well yesterday was La and my 20th Wedding Anniversary!!!  To celebrate, we all went out for a special dinner - sushi at Mitch's.  This was such a treat and we all left extremely satisfied.

I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Hamachi kama (grilled Hamachi collar)

Lobster Van Van

This was outstanding sushi.  That's not saying our normal haunt isn't great - we just wanted to make this evening special and different.  Happy 20th La and may we have 200 more!!!

Valentine's Dinner

This is what I made the family for our Valentine's Day dinner. Fed everyone for less than $20!!! A mediocre sushi dinner out is minimum $90 :( - Although these were easy... and to really make an accurate comparison, I need to venture into the difficult (volcanos, topped negiri, and some inside out rolls). Next time - for now I'd say this is more than fine!

Repeat Lunch

I had bought an extra block of ahi so we had sashimi for a second time. I showed Marlon how to form the rice patties and how to cut the ahi. They came out pretty good!!! I'd say the kids thought so too!

Birthday Lunch at Gyotaku

Another request for Marlon's Birthday - his favorite food - Sushi! We hit a restaurant that has intrigued us - Gyotaku. This is the second place we've been to that has used fried wontons as a nacho chip. And I finally got to eat natto (not bad, but I'd have to stretch pretty far to figure out a use...). The sushi was ok - funny thing is we're having a hard time finding a great sushi restaurant (that won't break our wallet). I think the Japanese bentos and other dishes would be a better bet (as those dominated the menu - but we can also make those dishes, so why go out to eat those). Naoki gyotaku on the walls (but only three of them??? I thought the whole place would have been covered). Still good and Marlon found another place to offer a Godzilla roll.
