Change of Scenery

We made a trip out to Maui to get away for a bit.  We hit the surf shops and came away with some cool stuff.

Then we checked the conditions at Kanaha (no I didn't bring equipment - I didn't want this to be a winging trip).

We headed up to Haleakala.

You could see the Big Island when you were at the summit.  Driving up you could see Kahoolawe, Molokini, Lanai and Molokai.

I totally got altitude sickness.

Silversword plants were growing at the upper reaches.

I think everyone had a great time!!!

Another Shop Carrying Foils

Post from this weekend.  I took the kids to check out some surf shops on the Windward side.  We hit Hawaiian Watersports and HIC Kailua.  HIC just finished a pretty significant renovation - and the best part is they now carry foiling gear!!!

They carry Naish, Amundson, and Go Foil.  Pretty cool!!!

Surf Shop Saturday

After a wonderful nap, we headed out the door to check out some surf shops.  First stop was Pioneer Saloon for lunch.  The atmosphere is really eclectic.

Next stop was Surf Garage.  They seemed to be low in stock right now.  Marlon was looking for fins for a board he is planning.  I really like their board stands.

Then we hit Patagonia.  They had a couple of foil boards on the rack.  This one was tiny - probably the smallest production model I've seen in person.

Our next stop was Hawaiian South Shore.  They also seemed to be a little low in the available board inventory, but they did have these JS foil boards.

We then hit T&C at Ala Moana so Noe can get some stickers.

And last but not least, we hit West Marine.  In case you are looking for self tapping stainless steel #12 screws for mounting footstraps - they have them here.

Fun afternoon!

Still Kicking

First stop in Virginia Beach - surf shops for stickers (that is what the kids asked for)

And a trip to the fish shop I used to take Marlon to -

It was pretty cold (for me), but driving around the old spots made me realize how much we enjoyed living and visiting Virginia Beach.  I even stopped by the house we bought when we first got there as newlyweds.

The New SFO

The Surfboard Factory Outlet in Kapolei changed locations.  Stop by if you haven't been in a while - the new digs are pretty cool!

Tropical Blends Shop Visit

On the way to the airport, Charlie and I stopped by Tropical Blend Surf Shop. Jim was there and as usual was eager to discuss the finer points of board design and construction. Lots of cool stuff like racks, boards, paddles and accessories.
