Chop Shop Foil Sanded and Touched Up

Yesterday I took off the excess epoxy and sanded through the 40-60-120-180-220-320 grits.  Here is the foil just after I finished the wet sanding (320-500-1000).

And here it is after I put touch up paint on it.  It looks pretty rough when you look at it up close - but from normal distances you wouldn't be able to tell it wasn't a new foil.

Considering the starting point, through to the finish sanding, this really turned out well.  Just in time for a new south swell!!!

Grinding Down the HS1550

Got the squared off cuts from yesterday ground down to flow with the foil of the uncut portion of the wing.

This wing had more core material - and in order to get the shape, I had to open up the carbon and expose the core material.

This is fixable - just have to add carbon cloth, sand, add more carbon cloth, sand... you get the idea.

I'll take it step by step over the next several days.

Prefinal Sanding on the HS1550

I sanded down the excess epoxy on the HS1550 reshape today.

I'll need to put one more coat of epoxy, followed by sanding, painting the front of the wing (to clean up the sanding marks), clear coat, final wet sand and done.
