Morning Session - 1/17/2025

The SW swell was supposed to have filled in today.  Bill suggested a morning session at Hickam.

Crew

No.34 and the Spitfire 960/Skinny 365 - mounted with the Foil Lite Titanium Foil Drive bolt system.

I didn't have long - so I was pretty heavy on the throttle.  When I had made it out to the break I was at 87%.

I botched the first 3 waves I caught - typical muscle memory readjustment.  After that I was good and carving some really fun waves (after the south swell winter lull).

There was some chop in the water, as well as a monk seal and several turtles.  The seal was eating something and lots of it.

Looks like I got 8 rides in this shorter session.

It got windy from a rain squall so it was a good time to head back in.

Solo Morning Session - 10/12/2020

I had the day off so I went foiling.  I didn't hit the dawn patrol because it was rainy and windy.  I got some sanding done on the board I was repairing, but the rain and wind died back around 8:30 - at which point I headed out.  Marlon was doing some volunteer work so I pulled a solo session.

It was glassy and about shoulder high. The tide was rising so I wasn't too worried about hitting the bottom.  I brought the wide 4'10", with the HS1850/232.  I did move the foil up again - it felt better, but it wasn't quite automatic yet.  It is incredible how much the rear stabilizer influences the whole setup.

I caught some epic rides - my watch said my longest was 674' and I got a max speed of 15.3mph.  I stayed out for over two hours because it was so good - one of my better sessions.

Morning Session - 1/20/20

Went back out this morning - same swell, no wind and a little bit more depth on the tide at 0.5' (but still not deep enough for me to bring out the foil).  I did park next to the Signature Foils rep (nice meeting you Dave) and he had out their new 200 sized front wing.  I brought the longboard again (I love longboarding).

It is getting cold in the mornings now (67 F air temp) and it is "refreshing" to initially get wet.

I got a handful of waves and called it (so I can go out again this evening - maybe catch another green flash).

And this is something I learned from Marlon - to appreciate dragging a hand through the face of a running wall.   I love longboarding!
