Fixed the Big Green Egg

My egg had an under bite that was driving me nuts.  I ended up unbolting everything twice over the past couple of years and after several uses, the under bite would come back.  I was reading on the internet and found that Big Green Egg changed the band set from a rear spring assist to the side spring assist that the larger sized units use.  I picked one up and installed it yesterday.

If ease of installation and the first opening are indicators of how this band system will ultimately work out, this is going to be awesome!!!  The bands went on easily and the springs really only worked to slow down the lid once was almost opened.  I'll track the alignment over the next several weeks, but I'm hopeful that this new system will end the shifting alignment.  Time to cook more with the Egg!!!

Brunch at Nico's

We followed up fishing with brunch at Nico's!  I actually had to go to POPs to get an upgraded Big Green Egg band set, but Nico's was right there.  La's Catch of the Day - Opah

Ok We're Back Home - Catch Up Vaca Posts

Short trip to Kauai - every minute was well spent! This was lunch shortly after we landed - Smiley's!!! We dropped into the ACE Hardware in Lihue (across from lunch) - they had a bunch of fishing and camping gear, and even some jewelry making supplies (that surprisingly looked a lot like fishing gear). Then we checked out some spots further south: Spouting Horn Allerton Garden A Mark White Lures display at the Allerton Garden Gift Shop More of our first day in the next few posts.

Kauai for the Day

My office was on Kauai for the day for business. There are probably more chickens on Kauai then there are people. This guy wasn't even afraid of me when I was taking pictures - almost the complete opposite like "what the F#^k are you doing on my turf?!?". Got lunch at a saimen place. And at the airport, they were acknowledging that this is the Year of the Monk Seal. I wish I could have stayed longer and had the family out - next time!

More Fish for Dinner and a New To Us Grocery Store

This was lunch on Saturday - pompano. We bought these at the "Seafood City" store near our house. And they were imported - we've caught these on the East Coast. Noe said "I like the way Lola cooks it better". She still ate it up ;) Here's some other pictures from the store. We'll definitely be adding this place to our list of places to get groceries (La liked the cleanliness especially - but ensemadas didn't hurt either).
