Changing out to go fly fishing is way easier than changing out of work clothes to go surfing. I used to do the later while still in the driver's seat of my car. Or with a towel. It was really a pain in the butt if it was cold outside and I needed to put a wetsuit on. Towels are the best way to make the transformation without drawing a ticket for public exposure. Pulling on waders is way easier. Off with your shoes. On with the waders. On with the boots. It actually takes longer to set up the rod, string the line and tie on a fly. Or you can wait until spring and say "screw the waders - I'll get wet". But that is definitely a warmer weather decision point. Did I say I hate winter...
