Fishing - Sunday June 17th 2018

I was able to go fishing with Bong Dela Cruz!!!  This guy helped me find some cool fishing spots on DG - I was finally able to return the favor out here!

He outfished Marlon and I by using artificials (2" grubs) - I'm going to have to rethink my fishing tactics... he caught and released 4 papio and 1 lai (queenfish).

Marlon hooked up to a barracuda and two po'opa'a

I ended up with two papio - can't complain!!!  Awesome fishing day!!!

HYSA 4 Sailing

And here's the regatta the kids were sailing at - if you look closely just to the right of middle, all those sails are the kids racing.

A new class of boats are making their way on to the scene - BICs are awesome!

Kau kau time!!!  Ehhh - who made that kalua pork - dem grindz broke da mouth!!!!  Chee hooo!!!

Fishing - Saturday June 16th, 2018

Went fishing for a bit while the kids were at their regatta.  The summer tides are in full swing - super low in the morning and super high in the evenings.  How's this for super low???

Caught five papio - one on the first cast and another notable one that pulled drag (I love that sound).

This was the dragster!!!  Legal size to eat - but I released it to get bigger and have a bunch of babies.

Awesome time (especially since I caught fish!!! No skunk today!!!)

NOAA on Ford Island

Got the opportunity to check out the green building technology at the NOAA building on Ford Island.

They had some really cool art on display - control your plastics dudes...

And some fish chilling out in formaldehyde

They give tours so you should check it out.  The cafeteria is outstanding as well!

Both Kids Went Surfing with Dad

I took the kids surfing yesterday evening - that is a rarity (because Noe is normally iffy - but I think she saw it as a way to get out of cleaning the house with La if she had stayed back).

Marlon checked the surf report and it said the waves would be waist high.  Must have been an old report because it was probably 3X that size when we got there.  I spent the first half surfing with Noe - she caught three, then when she went in I paddled out to Marlon and surfed with him.  We did not go to the outside but hung out in the middle break.

It was fun surfing the TJ Everyday, but it was definitely big enough that I could have gotten some action out of the Greedy Beaver - maybe next time.  In any case - I love surfing with my kiddoroosters!!!!

Went Out Fly Fishing...

But didn't hook any fish.  I lined up the Scott Meridian 8wt with a Scientific Angler long belly WF8F and used a gut-less crab fly.

I did get some follows from some bonefish, and I get got a follow from a sizable puffer, but no actual sign ons for a game of tug-o-war.  Fishing ain't easy....
