Parawing Session - 12/17/2025

I have actually gotten skunked parawinging twice before today.  I've been keeping an eye on the weather patterns and for this southerly flow, you have to go out earlier.

The skunks were at PVs, so today I opted for starting out a WPs.  Tide was low (but not too low).  Wind was strong from the south - and that was driving a bunch of surf.

This picture was from yesterday - but I used the same gear (big stuff) - and check that Evolution Cedrus Surf 77.5...

It was blowing nicely when I pulled up to the parking lot.  And as the pattern established, the wind started to back down once I started paddling out.  But today was different - I could see the wind line and I just kept paddling until I got into it.

I started goofy heading out towards Diamondhead - and then the surf started to pick up.  And it was not small.  I had to negotiate breaking swell while pulling upwind.

With the wind, the runs were parallel to shore - pretty unique session!

Towards the end of the session, I doused the wing and rode a wave.  The wind looked like it was faltering, so I figured I should quit while I was ahead.  I rode a few more and the last one I drifted the PW while I surfed to pretty much the last of the mast deep water.

It felt good to be up on foil and getting some time under parawing power - especially after getting skunked earlier this week.
