The forecasts were indicating conditions on the edge of doable.
I had considered just Foil Drive-ing as I picked up a set of the low end props. But the tide was low, the surf on the small side and there were signs the wind would get stronger....
I setup the big stuff - but mounted it on No.39
I've been wanting to see if a faster bottom would counter a reduction in overall length when getting up onto foil. And I was being optimistic with the wind....
This spot in good to go for this foil.
For the longest time I was just under the threshold of being able to get up. I think No.34 might have closed the gap.
I even drifted downwind a bit and paddled back up to Fenceline (I deleted that run off the watch).
Eventually good enough gusts came through and I had enough pressure to pump up. And I was able to jibe through 5 times before the wind dropped again (and I couldn't get the parawing to reinflate after a downturn jibe).
There never were any real whitecaps blowing through, and the wind had way more north in it than I thought would be there - but I DID NOT GET SKUNKED!!!!
Looking at this a little closer, it looks like 15mph+ to take off, and 13mph+ to stay up on foil with the Triple Seven PT Hybrid 5.7
Better than hanging out on the couch!!! Which I probably should be doing since I'm trying to kick the flu bug....
