Parawing Dawn Patrol - 10/18/2025

The wind forecast was showing Kailua to be the strongest wind on the island - so I packed a smaller parawing and headed over.

It was strong and steady, and whitecaps were popping up periodically.

Same board-foil combo - but I used the Flysurfer POW 4.0.  I have been wanting to use this wing to get the feel for it - but today is really the first opportunity I've had to fly it.

It pretty much flies a more nimble version of the POW 5.0

The regulars were all there - Donnel, Bobby, Rex and the others.  And I met Jenna while packing up.  She has a F One Frigate 3.0 PW.  She also described the PW entry/exit up at Mokuleia and the bay at the gate.

Just after I launched, there was a slight drop in wind speed - so I drifted a bit.  Eventually the wind came up and I was off.

During the extended gusts, the wind was almost too much for the POW 4.0 - almost.

Jump City had some waves - nothing big, but they were rideable.  One wave in particular the pw went backwards with a wind shift and it took me awhile to get back up.  Mostly due to the chop in the water and losing pw pressure while trying to pump up on to foil.

I tried to do a couple of tacks - they ended horribly.

This is the best wind that has blown through in quite some time - it felt good!

On wing I know I would have been going much faster.  I think the next skill set I'm going to work on is being able to use a smaller front foil to regain some of the higher top speed.

And tacks.  So I don't get yanked off the board anymore.

Fun session!
