I hit the beach earlier in the afternoon today. There was wind - but not as strong as I thought it would be.
Decent tide
Minimal waves.
Definitely a parawing day.
Took the fully stickered up No.42 out. Same foil/mast. And for power based on the wind, I brought out the BRM Ka'a 4.8
Prayot brought out the F One Frigate 4.7 - he wanted to put up the Ozone Pocket Rocket 4.3 (but I gave him a sideways look and he took the bigger wing)
The wind was just enough to get me going on the Ka'a 4.8 - so I got to practice pumping up with No.42
This board (with it's square rails) has a ton of roll stability. And it's length gives it plenty of pitch stability. This combination makes pumping the board up on to foil a lot easier than the KT Dragonfly.
For the beginning of the session I was able to hold my line and stay upwind. As the session went on, there was some slackening and that's when the Ka'a drifts downwind.
With a second gust series, I was able to hold this new line and not drift down too far.
And last was a rain squall that came bulldozing through. That pushed me down past the Cabins and I never had a chance to get back upwind under pw power.
That spike in wind speed at 3pm - was very challenging on the Ka'a 4.8 - but what can you do...
Looks 50-50 up/down
After I called it quits on the PW, after paddling back a considerable distance, I was in the cabins break and I ended up catching a wave prone foiling No.42 - it wasn't pretty, but it counts.
Hopefully the wind starts to ramp up some more -
