Parawing Session - 9/19/2025

The wind had more north in it again today.  And it felt a little weaker than yesterday.

Tide was high and the waves were waist high.

Same setup as yesterday.

What I did different was using a single point harness line and the winging harness.

The winging harness definitely provided a tremendous amount of support.  And the old FCS leash was pretty flexible - nice combo!

The POW is spoiling me on the takeoffs!  Pulls me right up and the upper end power is manageable (especially with the harness).

And this parawing rockets upwind!

What I was having issues with today was getting the parawing to change direction when I was trying to jibe.  The wind was shifty today so I'm going to pin the issue on that.

I tried another tack and got the parawing over and the board turned - but it was pretty ugly with the wind, and I came off foil.

On one jibe that was not working out, I went ahead and whipped the wing around me to keep it inflated, and I pulled the jibe off - totally by accident.

Line tension - line tension - line tension

There were very few if any whitecaps today, but the gusts definitely helped.

I made some runs where I headed more downwind to test the drift of the POW - phenominal!!!

So I just need to figure out how to move the wing from one tack to the other consistently while jibing in shifty winds.

There were definitely deep lulls out there - mirrored on both charts.

But this wing worked in these winds!!!  This is ground breaking for me and fills a gap that the Maliko 5.1 and the Ka'a 4.8 left open.

This parawing is really good for the wind strength we typically get here coming off the Ewa plains - 12 to 20 mph.  That said, the leash harness line slipped (duct taped and crosslocked - but still came undone).  At that point I figured it was time to go in.  If the wind is 15 to 22, I'll use the Maliko 5.1

Since No.34 is working out well for parawinging, I'm going to try and sell the Dragonfly and No.30 - and use those proceeds to possibly get the POW 4.0 (or the Silk 1050 modular front foil).

I try to dry my parawings after using them - best by flying them and practicing ground handling.  Second best by hanging them in the garage with a fan pointed towards them.

It's so much fun learning more!
