More of our first day on Kauai

This was one of the first (of hundreds if not thousands) chickens we saw up close - This was at a quilt shop just North of Lihue. I boarded a submarine.... Then we headed back to Lihue to meet up with Amy at Costco, but on the way, we checked out the Petco - and the almost $900 bird they had for sale... Then it was time to make our way to PMRF. We spotted in Hanapepe. There was a cool Hawaiiana Shop (but it was closed) - The pottery shop was open - this was the bench outside the shop (I didn't take any pictures of the inside - we can make everything they had). And we bought a Lilikoi Chiffon Pie from Wong's (check out the chili pepper water labels - "Don't Steal My Shit" And finally - the spot we'd lay our heads down at for the next three days Already beachcombing!

Ok We're Back Home - Catch Up Vaca Posts

Short trip to Kauai - every minute was well spent! This was lunch shortly after we landed - Smiley's!!! We dropped into the ACE Hardware in Lihue (across from lunch) - they had a bunch of fishing and camping gear, and even some jewelry making supplies (that surprisingly looked a lot like fishing gear). Marlon's New Fins

This post and the previous one about Noe are out of order - the Kauai posts are the latest, I just forgot to get these posted timely. I got Marlon a new 4" center fin for the Charlie Board. I couldn't follow him out to the main break because I was sticking close to Noe - but from the look on his face, I think he likes it!!!

Noe Asked to Go Surfing

Which rarely happens... she took out the Wavestorm (since Marlon has been using the board Charlie Bisgard gave him). She totally chills out when surfing - knee paddle here, lounge around there - then she takes her time popping up... I followed her on a couple of waves to get some pictures. I can't say no when my kids ask me to take them surfing!

Major's Bay Shore Break

We are staying in a cabin on Kauai with some friends. I brought the fishing poles and the ULI GL Pro, so the next several posts will be on our Kauai trip. First post - SUP surfing the shore break at Major's Bay! I caught a few good waves - here's the first The swell wasn't big enough to break outside, so these were essentially beach break. On top of coral heads. In shallow water. But if you pulled out before it became critical, it was a fun ride! Marlon paddling out - Wave number two - The ULI is definitely the board for these types of breaks - no dings no matter how big the wipeout is!!! Wave three - Awesome beach time!!!!
