Wing Foiling Session - 4/22/2022

The wind was up at WPB this afternoon - Marlon and I headed to the beach!!!  5.2 SWX, Kujira 1210, 85cm PC mast, WWFB.  The wind was just strong enough to go with this gear.

Roland was dominating!!!  Boosting and trying to get a Flaaka in - I'm inspired to learn to jump consistently and safely (so I don't break me or the gear).

I got in a bunch of waves - I'm just glad to have gotten a WPB session in!!!

This being my first time winging WPB in some time, I had to get reacquainted with the choppiness.  I'd whip into a wave only to breach the tail.  Or I'd be running along and lose it for no reason.  I think I've gotten pretty "soft" winging at Hickam (too easy).  Makes me wonder if a taller mast would stop the breaching... maybe I need to bring the Armstrong 95cm mast with the HS1550V1 out next... (I'm going to need to trim the CF300 tail I still have...)

No tacks for me today - all jibes.  I did ride several wave trains driven by the wind (not ground swell from the south, but short period stuff coming in from the southeast).  I'd switch from goofy to regular to ride these.  I had a little trouble keeping the SWX airborne when I would be running downwind - going to have to figure this one out (5.2 SWX for stronger, less gusty days - another wing for puffy days???).

Still had the front foil come a bit loose.  When I got the rig home, I tried moving the foil to see how much more I had to shim - a lot less is needed, but it probably needs another layer of either aluminum duct tape, or plastic packing tape.

Super fun session!!!
