Dawn patrol on Father's Day -
The waves were much smaller than yesterday. Every now and then a decent set would come through, but for the waves sourced from the predominant background energy, the low tide made them unridable for me.
I brought the same setup from yesterday - and I didn't touch the mast location. From the rides I caught, it seems as if I have it set well - I may try to push it just a hair forward next time to see if there is still some glide to be harvested. It is pretty good already - I got several recycling runs and I am not really pumps when I'm up and riding - I'm just wondering if I have the foil optimized.
At a lower volume, catching waves on this board is more like shortboarding - you need to let the wave pick you up instead of building up board speed by paddling - it is interesting to see the impact of reduced volume in boards that are the same length (No.21 and No.31 are both 4'8").
