Wing Foiling Session - 12/17/2023

I was doing errands around the house the first part of today - pressure washing part of the house and installing bird spikes.  With all that done, La and I headed to Hickam - me to go wing and La to do some shopping errands.

Kalani met me at the parking lot and we headed over.  The wind was on and off, strong then light and also swirly.

But that was ok because we brought the light wind boards!  This was No.30's debut since I changed out the mast track boxes.  This was actually a little disconcerting today because the last time I used this setup at Hickam, I opened up my upper lip with the same front foil (Eagle 1090).  That just made me a bit more cautious this session.

Kalani's Dragonfly - 8'2" x 21" x 6"+ - 121 liters

Longer, wider and probably a good 20+ liters more volume

Given those dimensional differences, the Dragonfly has more glide and ability to get up on foil faster.

Low mileage - a direct result of drop winds

When the wind was up, it made for good fun runs.  But it was a good deal of waiting if you came off foil and grounded.

It's good to know the light wind wing foiling board can tack right along side the other boards.

This picture is showing how far forward my weight is in front of the mast.  What I didn't get on video was the lift off sequence.  As the board/foil lifted there was a momentary "pitched up" feeling.  It compensate and the setup would level off.  I need to think about that some more.

Truly an act of desperation in winging in these light winds.

Long black gaps are where the wind dropped off.

I got a top speed of 18.4 mph today - not bad considering the wind.
