Wing Foiling Session - 12/21/2023

The forecast called for good winds today.  And when I first showed up, the winds were good.  And there were waves -

I actually brought No.32 and the Axis Spitfire 840 thinking it would be really good.  But as I was setting up, I could already feel the wind falling off.  I figured with the Eagle 1090 and the SW2 5.2 I would be able to salvage the session.

One of my original objectives for today was to see if the rear foot hook was a good option for this board (to get jumps in).

I did manage to eek a session out - but for the most part it was borderline.

If you just looked at this chart, you'd think this was a fantastic session.  And I actually had some really great wave rides - full on breaking waves and not just lumps.  But...

You can see some big holes in the wind...

And you can see when the wind was not strong enough to get me up and out of the water.  I'm not sure what drove that big erroneous speed point, but I did see a max speed of 17mph buried in there.

There are two more forecasted days of wind - but truthfully while I was winging, I was contemplating how good the conditions were for Foil Drive prone foiling... Unless the wind is nuking this may have been the last winging day for me of 2023.  The session was fun today - but winging in questionable conditions can get frustrating (and nerve wracking... there were lots of splashes today...)
